The 40+ country roadshow, The World CIO 200 Summit 2022 was successfully completed in Kuwait on 20 September 2022 through a virtual broadcast. The event was joined by industry experts including Husain A ALNakkas, Information Technology Director National Assembly of Kuwait; Samer AbuZayed, Industry Leader, Leading Bank; and Dr Anis Yousef Mattur, Group CIO Al-Hasawi Group.

The World CIO 200 Summit Kuwait edition felicitated nearly 25 CIOs and industry leaders who have accelerated digital and business transformation through and beyond the pandemic and created a better future for their business. The event followed the theme of #LeadX – Leading through transformation, where we were joined by thought leaders to share their transformative journey in Kuwait.

Gurleen Rooprai, Community Communications, GEC Media Group opened the World CIO 200 Summit 2022 Kuwait edition who then further handed the stage over to Ronak Samantaray, CEO and Co-Founder, GEC Media Group and Anushree Dixit, Global Head, Global CIO Forum. They welcomed all the keynote speakers and attendees for joining the event and congratulated all the winners of the Kuwait edition.

LeadX – A CIOs Story on Leading Transformation Through Change

Husain A. ALNakkas Information Technology Director National Assembly of Kuwait joined the World CIO 200 Summit Kuwait edition virtually and said, “CIO’s are looking and expecting technology solutions to support remote working and let staff to able to work remotely. However, digital transformation in the government sectors are not limited to online working or even staff training. Although many government institutions have technological solutions over the past few years, the importance of digital transformation in the government environment has become as urgent matter in most government offices during Covid-19 outbreak.”

Digital Banking Transformation

Speaking at the event, Samer AbuZayed, Industry Leader of Leading Bank said that the digital transformation is reshaping the banking industry and the biggest challenge that digital banking is happening with or without the banks and that is putting an extra level of challenges. As you all know, regulation is really providing extra load on the banks who have been really passing a tough time to absorb its profitability. Covid 19 added a lot of challenges and regulations are really adding to these challenges. Banks should really exhibit much more transparency to other customers on their pricing schemes, on their details of their products and services.

Dr Anis Yousef Mattur, Group CIO, Al-Hasawi Group said, “Digital transformation has one base which is employing digital technology to build new business policies, better culture, and better customer experience. It is about redesigning business strategies by using emerging technologies to suit our current digital age”. He also highlighted the role of COVID pandemic which pushed everyone to use technology and get connected with each other with the help of it.
